CV/About/Bio

Rubyyy By Nick TuckerOne part Las Vegas Showgirl, one part Broadway Baby and one part Drag Queen, Rubyyy has performed all her life; a graduate of the illustrious Sheridan College Music Theatre-Pop Performance program, she has worked with some of the top theatre performers and educators in Canada and some of the sleaziest and sexiest cabaret and burlesque performers in the world. A professional actress, debuting at sixteen in The Vagina Monologues, Rubyyy has worked in theatre and music theatre as an actress, singer, dancer, choreographer and assistant director. Rubyyy was ranked one of Ontario’s top Triple Threat performers, as she competed in her teens in all disciplines of dance (specializing in jazz, contemporary and music theatre) and winning a number of titles and awards in her dance career while also studying singing in music theatre and pop.
Since her debut, this neo burlesque beauty has burst on to the scene, sharing her special mix of elegant and evocataive performance magic while working hard to hone her personal stripper POV – if you twist her arm to answer, she prefers the title of ‘Burlesque Sex Education Performer’ – with acts which are as thoughtful as they are sensational. Ranked in the Top 20 UK Burlesque Performers by 21st Century Burlesque Magazine in 2014, Rubyyy is a powerhouse striptease artist. Profiled by The Sunday Times Magazine in 2013, as an innovator in burlesque performance and production. Whether she’s singing and flinging, strutting and stripping or shocking with flesh, wit and glamour Rubyyy is the Queen of Queerlesque and a glittering force of nature.
Marilyn Monroe meets Cruella de Ville, and so happy in the limelight I could almost hear her purr. Suddenly, Goldfrapp’s Ooh La La blares out and Rubyyy starts to dance. The next four minutes are a whirl of high-octane activity. One minute she’s doing splits, the next she’s throwing herself at the audience with the energy of the Tasmanian devil, intermittently flinging off items of clothing. By the end she stands on stage naked; imperfections proudly on display and the audience – particularly the women – in her thrall.
“Shock It To Me!” Rosie Kinchen, The Sunday Times Magazine, September 2013.
A few years into her showgirl life Rubyyy has had the pleasure of performing at some of the UK’s top events and stages, having branched out into the art of the MC. A fierce Diva on the microphone Rubyyy has wielded and whipped audiences into shape across the UK. Known for her wicked humour, over-the-top glamour and electric energy, she has hosted everything from weddings to kinky parties, Burlesque festivals to club stages.

“The queerlesque supertroupe led by Rubyyy Jones have gone from strength to strength in 2013. The all-killer no-filler line-up sees Jones alongside MethLolo Brow,  Miss Cairo, Ruby Wednesday, Lilly Snatchdragon, Lady Tena, Bourgeoisie and Scarlett O’Hora amongst others. Together, they possess enough quirk and kook to send the Addams Family scurrying but beneath the glitter there are sex-positive messages and a refreshingly undiluted fuck-you brashness.
The collective will return in 2014 with a new series of shows (at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern and The Black Cap in Camden) but we doubt they’ll stop there. This gender-bending group are one cathedral-storming short of being the next Pussy Riot and may yet come to define new boundaries in modern cabaret.”
